After Shredder's death at the hands of Splinter, he finds himself on a path of self-discovery through the underworld. While the Turtles themselves are not dead, these incarnations represent Shredder's archenemies. This time the Shredder has no quarrel with these Turtles, merely wishing to cross a bridge. However, these are not Yoshi sons; they're monsters assuming their forms and voices. Shredder initially tries to flee from them but winds up being overtaken. It's only when his rodent companion, a of phantom of Splinter in the form of an actual rat, is threatened does he fight back!
